7 romantic things to do in Portland in 2022

1. Stroll through a sprawling rose garden

Home to over 10,000 rose bushes, the International Rose Test Garden is the perfect place for a romantic stroll. The garden offers free entry and is open daily. Roses are also available for purchase from the nearby shop, which could make a great gift for your significant other!

2. Enjoy a day at the spa

Looking for a relaxing afternoon with your date? Look no further than the Kiva Tea Cafe Spa. Located on 24th Avenue, this spa offers both a variety of treatments such as massages and facials as well as revitalizing refreshments such as acai bowls and hot tea in their cafe. Even better, they also offer a couples package. Their couples massage will allow you to both choose from one of the available treatments and relax in each other’s company! The spa requires a prior appointment, which can be made online. If you’re just looking to try some tea, however, the cafe is open Wednesday through Monday.

3. Watch a drive-in movie

If you’re ready to get out of town for a bit, the 99W drive-in theater offers a great opportunity for a date night. Located about 30 minutes from downtown Portland, you can enjoy old-world charm while watching a movie here. 99W is unique not only as a drive-in cinema, but also as a historic local business – it was opened by the family that operates it in the 1950s and has continued to show films ever since! The theater is set to open its 69th season in mid-March.

4. Go on a romantic cruise

Enjoy a romantic cruise on the Willamette River by booking an excursion with Portland Spirit Cruises and Events. This group offers a variety of tours both in Portland and nearby in the Columbia River Gorge. In addition to their dinner cruise – perfect for watching the sunset – they also offer a sightseeing tour on the Willamette River as well as a brunch tour in the Columbia Gorge. This variety of options makes it a great option for all kinds of schedules and interests – for early risers, they even offer breakfast options! Although walking guests are permitted if space permits, you’ll likely want to make a reservation in advance to secure your spot.

5. Check out Cookie Dough Coffee

Looking for something fun and a little offbeat to do with your partner? Head to Cookie Dough Cafe to sample edible cookie dough. The cafe offers so much more than your traditional chocolate chip cookie dough – check out flavors like mint brownie batter or confetti cake. They also offer vegan and gluten-free options.
