1. Perseid meteor shower

FRIDAY AT 7 PM | VIRTUAL EVENT

Look up because the Perseid meteor shower happens all month and that means you can see hundreds of shooting stars on a clear day. The staff at the Manfred Olson Planetarium in UW-Milwaukee want to teach you the best tips for visualizing the phenomenon at a virtual event on Friday. The tickets are “pay what you can”, and the proceeds go to support undergraduates at UWM. With a $ 15 donation, you also get an individual membership in the planetarium.

2. Sunflower season

SEVERAL TIMES | SEVERAL LOCATIONS

The sunflower season is gorgeous and short, so you need to make the most of it while it’s here. Right now it’s peak season, so we’ve put together a list of local sunflower fields that you can check out while the flowers are still in bloom here.

ALL THE WEEKEND | WISCONSIN STATE FAIR PARK

The Wisconsin State Fair is back! It runs through August 15 with all of your favorite food vendors and events, plus a list of new and outrageous foods you’ll have to try this year. Give it a try.
