Brad Pitt and Damien Quintard reopen historic French recording studio, Miraval
Brad Pitt goes into the music business.
The Oscar-winning actor, producer and entrepreneur has teamed up with French music producer Damien Quintard to reopen Miraval Studios, the famous recording center located at Chateau Miraval in the south of France.
Pink Floyd has recorded famous sessions of “The Wall” at the studio, which sits on a 900-acre property that has been producing olives and wines since the 13th century.
Prick, Shirley Bassey, Sade, UB40, AC / DC, Steve Winwood and the Cranberries also recorded there.
Built in 1977 by Jacques Loussier, then owner of Château Miraval, the place was largely unused for two decades, until Pitt and his then-wife Angelina Jolie bought it in 2011.

Quintard, who is an Emmy-winning producer, said he “immediately clicked” with the 57-year-old actor when the two met in Paris.
“It was an intense moment where we just talked and talked about her,” he said in a press release. “I was amazed at how sensitive and precise he was in his analysis of music.”
The updated studio will retain much of its original recording equipment, integrated into a modern setting where everything from pop and rock to hip-hop and classic records can be produced.
In addition to the original equipment the classic albums were recorded, the studio is structured around an office designed by Pitt and Quintard with hybrid analog / digital capabilities, while benefiting from technology to manage the premix for the cinema. and television.
With its 25-foot ceilings, Studio One has a 100-square-meter control room and a 320-square-meter concert hall that retains what Quintard has described as the hall’s “legacy of eccentric sound.” iconic drum set created by Loussier. There are also recording booths, vintage synthesizers and other rare equipment and a mezzanine overlooking the studio.
A tower that can accommodate visiting musicians is connected to the studio. Other facilities available include access to the estate’s swimming pool and catering from the chefs at Château Miraval.
The official opening of Miraval studios is scheduled for summer 2022.
