ELITE AUCTIONS Announces August 19 Auction of Historic Mansion and Local Landmark in Suffolk, Virginia
Truitt House, located in Suffolk’s historic downtown area just off Main Street, will go up for auction on Friday August 19 at 11am.
NAPLES, Florida, USA, August 5, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — ELITE AUCTIONS, a leader in luxury real estate auctions and marketing, announced the latest addition to its lineup of luxury residential, commercial and undeveloped real estate listings being auctioned off at no reserve.
Going to auction on August 19 is the Trout Housean 8,500 square foot mansion built in 1909 for wealthy businessman George W. Truitt and restored over a decade ago by its current owner who recently converted it into a bed and breakfast.
In the late eighties, 204 Bank St was listed as a historic site on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
The residence was recently listed at $1.2 million according to publicly available real estate data sources.
Some of the house’s most notable features include its nine fireplaces, four of which are marble, a grand ballroom on the third floor that has been converted into a huge owner’s suite, an octagonal office, crystal chandeliers, a mezzanine of upstairs musician and a butler’s pantry that has cypress countertops over 200 years old.
The oversized, bank-like construction of the mansion was a rarity among private residences of the time and makes it unique among others in historic Suffolk: steel beams in the basement and elsewhere, as well as walls of bricks four bricks thick.
Commenting on the announcement, Randy Haddaway, Founder and CEO of Elite Auctions, said: ‘This incredible home is known to Suffolk residents and people who come to stay here at bed-and-breakfast from afar as a very special place. square. It was built for a special someone, one of the city’s first millionaires, in fact, and it was built to withstand almost anything life could throw at it.
Tara McLean, president of Elite and project manager for the upcoming auction, says the huge estate was clearly built to make and leave a lasting impression on all who see it.
“And the house still does today, and it will continue to do so long into the future. House Truitt deserves the prominent place it has held for more than a century, both geographically, as well than in the hearts and minds of the people of Suffolk.
