A huge estate including a waterfall, tennis court and several acres of pasture in Bolingbroke is for sale for over $ 18 million.

The property, known as Great Hill Place, has more than 300 acres and a 13,500-square-foot mansion, according to Zillow, an online real estate marketplace.

The mansion includes smart home features as well as a games room, nanny suite, second kitchen, theater, gym, and rooftop balcony, which guests can tour via a hydraulic lift.

On the estate is a 10-acre lake with a boat launch and pavilion, tennis and basketball courts, a five-stall stable and fenced pastures. The lake has an eight foot waterfall.

Architectural features include fluted Corinthian columns, serrated moldings, and a domed rotunda.

The domain has been listed on Zillow for 33 days with over 15,000 views. The property is valued at $ 4.3 million on the Monroe County Tax Assessor’s website. The last time the property was sold for dollar amount was in 1995 for $ 950,000.

The property was for sale in 2019 for $ 15 million, but it does not appear to have been sold on the tax assessor’s website.

History of the house

The property was once home to one of the few intact 19th-century plantations, and it was built by a Virginia family named Mason, according to Telegraph records.

William Wadley, president of the Central Georgia Railroad Company and former Confederate superintendent of railways, purchased the house in 1873 with over 1,300 acres of land. The purchase price was $ 6,410.

After part of the land was sold after Wadley’s death in 1882, the remaining house and property were given the name Great Hill Place.

The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the 1970s, and a group of Macon investors bought the house in 1974 for just over $ 1.2 million.

The original mansion, which was a 22-room, two-story structure, was burnt down on January 31, 1982. The current mansion was built in 2002 with seven bedrooms and 10 full bathrooms.
