“Houses with a Story”: How the team turned a worn-out house into a contract worth $ 650,000
“Houses with History” is a 2021 home improvement series. The show stars historian Mike Lemieux, professional carpenter Rich Soares and designer Jennifer Macdonald; a dedicated trio who take on the challenge of saving stunning vintage homes in Plymouth. Their main mission is to save the old properties in the region. The series goes beyond simple renovation. Its main purpose is to preserve and help restore the legacy of some of America’s oldest historic homes.
The team travels through Plymouth County and its surrounding woodlands, south of Boston. They discover and transform 18th and 19th century houses into new houses, while preserving their natural history. For this motivated team, saving a house is saving a piece of history. In addition, they share with us all the origins and renovation stories of these houses!

The star attraction of “Houses with History” is undoubtedly the smallest details of finishing, renovation and refurbishment. While home improvement shows aren’t new to us, there is something very different about this living room that sets it apart, in a class of its own!
In the recent episode of “Houses with History,” Mike, Rich and Jennifer take a look at Wapping Road, located in Kingston, MA. It was once the residence of the Faunce family, and they were among the original members of the Plymouth Colony, arriving on the ship “Anne” in 1623.
The house has a ton of cool details and spans approximately 13 acres of land. We are also made to understand that if the selling price of the house is high, the budget for renovation costs will be low.
Here is a first glimpse of the houses before the team intervenes with its finesse.
Due to lack of maintenance and weather changes, the house was quite worn out as a whole. Every inch needed a detailed examination and professional repair.
As mentioned before, the team spared no effort! Jennifer’s attention to detail has been well used to convert this vintage brown table into a kitchen cabinet, to stock up on spices and edibles. Creativity is her middle name, without a doubt!
After working on Wapping Road, the numbers come into play. The purchase price was approximately $ 229,000 with renovation costs amounting to $ 350,000. The house was listed for $ 585,000 and was sold for $ 650,000!
To get a better idea of all the work done on the house, here’s a little clip that Jennifer shared on her Instagram page, “jennyatfullcirclehomes”.
“Houses with History” airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET / PT only on HGTV.
