teen time

Students in grades 6 and up are encouraged to come to the library for an hour after school on both Fridays in February. February 11 is Maker Space, which means you can go high-tech or low-tech. Craft supplies, scraps, sewing projects, whatever interests you, we’ve got it. February 18 is the Gamers Edition. You can play board games, Switch games, or Magic the Gathering. We’ll help you build a winning deck. Even if you just want to kick back, relax and unwind, there’s no better place than the library. Please register

School visit

Participants will take a walk back in time to visit the historic Knox School House 5. Please register to visit this one-room schoolhouse, built in 1898 and restored by the Helderberg Kiwanis Club. It is the only Knox building currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We will meet at the Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 19.

Against racism

Learning circles

Join us at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 17 for a virtual session of dialogue and active listening as we explore anti-racist ideas and practices through books, articles, videos, and podcasts. Watch “The Danger of One Story” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (the link is available on our events calendar) and get ready to have courageous conversations and develop your understanding. Please register online in advance to receive the link.

Bricks, Bits and Bots

Children from kindergarten to grade 5 are invited to join us on Monday, February 21 to celebrate Engineers Week! You’ll use LEGO® bricks from the library to build, littleBits to invent and Ozobots to learn to code easily. Please register either for the morning session from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. or for the afternoon session from 3:30 p.m.

Bonus loans

Between February 1 and February 28, customers can choose from hundreds of titles in hoopla’s Bonus Borrow collections. These instant titles will cost the library or patron nothing and do not count against borrowing limits.

Two for Tuesday

Join us for a special story hour on Tuesday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. Everything we read, sing or create will contain the number 2! Children ages 2-2 with a chaperone will enjoy an interactive story hour that will include an art activity that can be done in the library or at home. Please register once per family.

Curbside pickup is available during all library hours.

Masks are mandatory for all visitors over the age of two, regardless of their vaccination status.
