SF firefighters rescue stranded surfer near historic Cliff House

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — A surfer stranded in the Pacific Ocean off San Francisco was rescued late Saturday afternoon by firefighters.

A San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson said the rescue took place after the surfer was swamped by strong ocean currents just off Lands End, near the city’s historic Cliff House.

The fire department spokesman said the surfer was being assessed by paramedics but was expected to be fine.
