The hall is steeped in history and is said to have been the ancient ancestral seat of The Grosvenor and The Shakerley families, both prominent in Cheshire.
The property has four reception rooms, seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well as a two-storey garage with space for five cars and a self-contained two-bedroom apartment above.
During its long history, the house fell into disrepair.
Fortunately, it underwent a large-scale redevelopment and restoration in 2014 under the direction of English Heritage and the Archaeological Society, due to its status and importance.
This saw the building transformed into a ‘magnificent’ three-storey country house with modern features ‘sit comfortably’ alongside period features.
The property was built of brown brick, under a stone and Welsh slate roof, with an asymmetrical plan, and is approached by a stone bridge.
A description of the property on Zoopla read: “Entered through the magnificent formal dining room with lovely stone tile flooring, leading to a wide range of living and entertainment areas.
“There is a splendid living room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the spectacular grounds and moat, with a second sitting room, lounge, modern kitchen, breakfast room, cloakroom and office complementing the ground floor accommodation -of the road.
